  1. What do you have at Rock City Gardens?
    • Rock City Gardens is a 4100-ft walking trail surrounded by natural geological and botanical wonders featuring a 90-ft waterfall; the Swing-A-Long Bridge, a 180-ft long suspension bridge that provides a fantastic view of the Chattanooga valley; Lover’s Leap, where you can See Seven States; Fat Man’s Squeeze, Fairyland Caverns and Mother Goose Village.
  2. How much time should I plan to visit Rock City?
    • When visiting Rock City, most people plan on 1-1/2 to 2 hours. However, since the tour is self-guided, you can spend as long as you like walking through the gardens, relaxing in a rocking chair while enjoying the breathtaking views, having a bite to eat at one of our restaurants, and browsing the various gift shops.
  3. Is Rock City Handicap Accessible?
    • Rock City is partially handicap accessible. Our entrance at Gardens Gateway leads to an ADA ramp that takes guests to Legacy Lane. This portion of the Enchanted Trail allows guests in wheelchairs or with limited mobility access to enjoy the overlook at Lover’s Leap and the Seven States Flag Court. The round trip distance is about 1/2 a mile. Park Map
  4. Do you allow strollers at Rock City?
    • Due to narrow passages and steep stairs, strollers are prohibited on Rock City’s Enchanted Trail. However, child backpacks or front carriers work well. Stroller parking is located in front of Garden’s Gateway Gift Shop – the entry and exit point for the Enchanted Trail.
  5. Do you have Bus and RV parking at Rock City?
    • Yes. Rock City’s parking area will accommodate large buses, RVs, and trailers. When approaching Rock City, watch for the enormous black and white Rock City arrow sign and then the signs that direct “Buses, Campers, & Trailers.”
    • When making your way to and from Rock City, please note you will be traveling on two-lane mountain roads and through a residential community that requires a commitment to safe driving.
  6. Do you allow pets at Rock City?
    • Four-legged pets will enjoy the walk and are welcome if they are on a leash. Visit our Pet Information page for more information.

  8. Where can I see some of the Rock City barns?
    • Rock City’s self-guided barn tours take travelers along scenic pathways where many roadside barns can still be seen. Barns can most often be seen along rural roads throughout the southeast. See the barn page for a map of these historic landmarks.

  12. How do I plan for transportation to/from Rock City if I don’t have my own car?
    • Rock City is located in Lookout Mountain, GA, just over the TN border and about a 10-minute drive from downtown Chattanooga, TN. For guests who wish to visit Rock City without transportation, please be aware of ride-share restrictions when crossing state lines. We apologize for the inconvenience and recommend guests prepare their transportation ahead of time to alleviate travel problems after their visit.
      • UBER/LYFT – services will bring guests to Rock City but are not likely to pick up and transport them back down Lookout Mountain as most ride-share providers cannot cross state lines to pick up guests.
      • TAXI – Chattanooga has limited taxi services, often with long waits or minimal availability for pick-ups.
      • WALKING – Due to narrow and winding roads, walking from/to the top station of the Incline Railway or up/down Lookout Mountain is unsafe.
  13. Do you offer a Military Discount?
    • Yes, we offer a military discount with proof of ID for the service member and up to 5 additional guests. Military guests may only redeem the discount in person upon arrival. Please note that time slots can sell out during peak periods, and walk-up availability is not guaranteed. We cannot offer a price reduction/discount on pre-purchased tickets online.
  14. What time do you close?
    • Rock City Gardens closes 1.5 hours after the last entry time of the day. Hours of entry vary based on the season. Please check the day’s hours of entry on the Plan Your Visit page.

    • Couples are welcome to get married at Lover’s Leap, although we do not make arrangements. Only very small weddings are allowed because traffic flow can be unrestricted to our other guests. Each person pays the current admission fee for entrance to the gardens.
    • For a wedding featuring Rock City magic, we encourage you to discover Grandview, our 4100 sq ft historic home perfect for any special event (rehearsal dinner, wedding, shower, or day-after brunch). Grandview is adjacent to Rock City, with the same fantastic view without other visitors and activities.
