The partners on the admissions team are often the first contact with a guest. Admissions team members are cashiers at the ticket desk, official greeters at the turnstiles, and guest service specialists working with costumed characters. All postions require an outgoing, smiling partner who displays a genuine interest in serving guests and the communication skills to deliver that service. Partners must be knowledgeable about Rock City Gardens (including events) and the surrounding Chattanooga/Lookout Mtn. area.
Ticket desk partners must also be able to operate a computer and make change, as well as document transactions correctly within the point-of-sale software. Costumed characters must have a sense of fun and a willingness to interact in a lighthearted manner with guests – particularly children. Cashiers and official greeters must be able to demonstrate basic math and reading skills.
The retail team is responsible for delivering excellent guest service at souvenir gift shops at Rock City Gardens, the Incline, and Battles for Chattanooga. All positions require an outgoing, smiling partner who displays a genuine interest in serving guests and the communication skills to deliver that service. All retail partners are cashiers and they must be able to operate a computer and make change, as well as document transactions correctly within the point-of-sale software. Basic math and reading skills are required.
Some retail gift shops are themed and specific to the area of the attraction in which they are located, and partners must be able to learn and display knowledge about their area of the attraction. One themed retail area is the Fudge Kitchen, which requires partners who are able to learn to make homemade candy and fudge. Fudge-making is a skilled and interactive position, with much guest service focus to help entice customers.
Operations partners are responsible for ensuring that our facilities are clean and inviting for the guests. This begins in the parking lot, where these partners may be helping park cars and welcome guests and it continues throughout the gardens. The operations team is responsible for sweeping and blowing the trail, for emptying trash, and for cleaning restrooms. They also help set up equipment for various special events throughout the year. Operations partners must be able to deliver excellent guest service, even when they are working in less than ideal weather conditions.
Food Service Team
Partners on the food service team may work in several different capacities, depending on their location and the season. As with other positions, friendly, smiling excellent guest service is a requirement. Partners who work in food service areas must be able to follow appropriate food preparation guidelines and safety practices on a consistent basis. Cashiers in food service must be able to operate a computer and make change, as well as document transactions properly within the point-of-sale software.
Partners in food service may work in outdoor environments at times. Food service partners also work the snack bar and the sweet shop at the Incline.
