Rock City proudly congratulates two of its partners for outstanding service over their many years with the company.
Jeff Raabe and Melissa Griggs were awarded STARS of the Industry awards from the Greater Chattanooga Hospitality Association. Both partners were honored at a GCHA luncheon on June 20 at the Westin Chattanooga, where the area’s hospitality pros were recognized.
Raabe, director of guest experience support services, received the award for Tourism Manager of the Year – Large Budget. Over his 15-year career, Raabe has exemplified all that Rock City expects from its partners: kindness, compassion and a team player. His coworkers say they appreciate that he spends just as much time walking the trail as he does in his office, and that he meets with every team manager weekly without exception to ensure their needs are met.
The Hospitality Achievement Award 30+ Years was awarded to Melissa Griggs, director of attractions retail & admissions. Griggs is Rock City’s longest-serving partner, beginning as a part-time cashier 39 years ago when she was 17 years old. Over the course of nearly four decades, Griggs has had many titles and is now a cherished member of Rock City’s senior leadership team.
Griggs takes pride in training Rock City’s new members, many of them teenagers, in positions she had at their age. Her wealth of Rock City knowledge and customer service expertise transcends departments so much so that CEO Doug Chapin described her as a “keeper of the culture.”
Both Jeff Raabe and Melissa Griggs exemplify Rock City’s mission each and every day, “to create memories worth repeating for our guests and our partners.”
Well deserved, Jeff and Melissa!
