To Enrich Lives Through Wonder And Connection
Rock City first opened to the public on May 21, 1932. Owners Garnet and Frieda Carter decided to share their “backyard” with guests over 90 years ago. Guests entered through the original round gatehouse, strolled through beautiful rock formations and enjoyed the native plants Frieda cared for along the Enchanted Trail. In celebration of our 90th anniversary, Rock City has defined four key cornerstones highlighting the attraction’s historical leadership while guiding the pathway forward: Innovation, Sustainability, Art, and People.
