Summer Music Weekends includes fun activities for the whole family to enjoy!

Event Activities

Birds of Prey Shows – Join John Stokes and Dale Kernahan as they take you on a magical flight and educate guests on the marvelous birds of prey. Combined, John and Dale have been caring for and educating about Birds of Prey for 58 years. John and Dale strive to provide the highest level of care for their feathered ambassadors, to ensure their health and well-being. Visit their website: soarsouth.org for more information. Shows located in the Critter Classroom at 10am, 11am, 1pm, 2pm, 4pm, 5pm, and 6pm.
Musical Entertainment – enjoy the sweet sounds of summer with daily musical entertainment on the Big Rock stage and the Lover’s Leap area.

Cafe 7

Enjoy lunch at Cafe 7! The perfect place to take in the 7 states view while feasting on delicious Southern Cuisine. Open on Summer Music weekends days, 11:00am – 4:00pm.

Fridays – Sundays – counter service available for bar and lunch with rotating menu available. Offerings may include shrimp and grits, catfish poboys, fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese, chicken salad on croissant, house smoked BBQ nachos, BBQ cubans, seasonal desserts and more!
Mondays – bar service with house-made snacks like pimento cheese with baguette toast, chips and Georgia Caviar (salsa made with black beans, black eyed peas, roasted corn, herbs, oil, apple cider vinegar), or black eye pea hummus with pita chips.

Fresh Squeezed Lemonade

Nothing says summer like fresh squeezed lemonade!

Big Rock Grill

Cool off with a delicious soft serve ice cream – chocolate, vanilla, or both swirled together. This sweet refreshing treat is a summer classic! Wanting to take your ice cream treat with you, but without the mess of dripping ice cream? The Big Rock Grill can spin you a delicious milkshake. The Big Rock Grill also offers hamburgers, chicken fingers, hot dogs, and sandwiches for lunch or dinner.

2022 Line-Up

This year’s Summer Music Weekends concert line-up includes exciting, toe-tapping blues, jazz, country and bluegrass acts!

Held on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from Memorial Day to Labor Day. See below for specific performer dates. Please note: artist schedules are subject to change.

Matt Downer, the Old Time Traveler

Performing all event days from 10am – 4pm

From Chattanooga, Matt performs traditional old-time music on fiddle, banjo and guitar. Growing up on Sand Mountain, AL, he learned to play music from his grandfather and the elder musicians of the area.

Tarryn Aimee Smith

Performing Saturdays from 11am – 7pm
(not July 23)

Nashville based Tarryn Aimee Smith is an Americana singer-songwriter whose music is a unique blend of folk, bluegrass, jazz, and country. Tarryn also has a wide repertoire of well-known covers from various decades and music genres.

Rick Rushing

Performing Fridays from 11am – 7pm

Rick is related to the late legendary musician Jimmy Rushing of the Count Basie Big Band. He learned how to play the Blues in the Scenic City. Rick is known for singing and playing the Blues in electric or acoustic. Genre: Blues, Jazz, Reggae, Rock.

Highbeams

Performing Sundays and Holiday Mondays plus July 5-7 from 11am – 7pm (not July 4)

A trio of brothers and best friends, Highbeams have lit up the stages across the southeast with their emotive, high-energy performances and rich three part harmonies.

Enjoy the beauty of what’s blooming all summer at Rock City!

This Summer, look for Limelight Hydrangeas, Petunias, Purple Heart Plant, Sunpatiens, and Becky Shasta Daisies among many others blooming in our gardens.
