Tennessee Attractions For Couples: Chattanooga Edition

Tennessee Attractions For Couples: Chattanooga Edition

Each of the major cities in Tennessee have gained quite a reputation for their respective charms and attractions. Memphis has the BBQ and blues, Nashville has music and nightlife, and Knoxville is the home of college football and the Smokey Mountains!

For couples looking to get away for a romantic weekend, Chattanooga offers a quaint escape! With attractions ranging from elegant boutique hotels to hang gliding into the breathtaking lookout valley, Chattanooga’s diverse mix of accommodations can cater to all interests and personalities.

With so many amazing options at your disposal, it can be difficult to plan an itinerary. The staff at Rock City have compiled a list of the must-see Chattanooga attractions so that you can spend that time making memories with your partner!

Rock City

Rock City is a perfect amusement for couples to escape and find a magical experience right on top of Lookout Mountain. From the fabled Lover’s Leap, a gorgeous cliff named after the legend in which two young Cherokee lovers from feuding tribes fell to their death in solidarity, to Art in the Gardens, a series of seven tranquil art installations along Rock City’s Enchanted Trail!

In addition, Lover’s Leap affords visitors the unique opportunity to view seven states in a single glance. The Flag Court is a tribute to each of the surrounding states! Fairyland Caverns is also a must-see as it was designed in honor of founder Frieda Carter’s passion for European folklore and fairytales. Take care not to step on one of Rock City’s infamous gnomes as you make your way through the caves!

RiverView Inn

The RiverView Inn is a relaxing hotel overlooking the Tennessee River. The inn is just a quick drive away from popular attractions like Ruby Falls, the Incline Railway, and everything that Downtown Chattanooga has to offer! A complimentary breakfast is included with every stay, and the country-style suites include wi-fi and private balconies. The RiverView Inn hopes to encourage exploration and quality-time, so most rooms do not include a TV. A great way to unwind after a long day of fun is relaxing in the heated pool that overlooks the Tennessee River!

Dining

There’s perhaps no activity more conducive to a romantic evening than sharing a meal accompanied by a good wine or a craft cocktail. Downtown Chattanooga is home to numerous outstanding innovators, restaurants, and breweries that compose Chattanooga’s restaurant and bar scene.

There’s a restaurant for every mood and occasion in Chattanooga. For a romantic fine-dining experience with an intimate ambiance be sure to make a reservation at Alleia. To enjoy the stylings of a classic American steakhouse, we’d recommend treating your partner to a meal at the beloved Hennen’s Steakhouse!

Affiliated Attractions

Just about fifteen minutes down the mountain from Rock City is Downtown Chattanooga. Local breweries like Odd Story, venues like The Signal, beautiful boutique hotels, and a myriad of amazing dining options make Chattanooga a haven for fun. With Atlanta, Birmingham, and Nashville just a two-hour trip away from the city, Chattanooga is rapidly becoming a paradise for a weekend away!

The Hunter Museum of American Art should be a staple of every visit to Chattanooga. The museum is positioned heroically on the cliff line overlooking the Tennessee River between the Walnut Street Bridge and the Veteran’s Bridge and features a beautifully curated permanent collection, as well as world-class rotating collections. The area surrounding the museum is often referred to as the art district and features many amazing sculptures, cafes, and experiential walkways. Fun fact: admission to the permanent collection is free on the first Thursday of each month!

The Southern Belle Riverboat is an amazing attraction that is sure to scratch the nautical itch! The Riverboat offers a variety of cruise options including daily, seasonal, private, and dining cruises. The boat also features its own 3rd Deck Burger Bar which is locally renowned for the fantastic burgers and view of the city. For everything from a lovely dinner on the river to a beautiful sightseeing tour of the Chattanooga skyline, the Southern Belle is sure to impress!

Last, but certainly not least, the Tennessee Aquarium takes you “from the mountains to the sea” as you explore the region’s aquatic wildlife! The museum also features a 3D IMAX theater. The aquarium is split into two different buildings that highlight two separate ecosystems: the River Journey and the Ocean Journey. The Aquarium’s website sums it up best with this statement, “The Aquarium’s staff loves to immerse guests with the stories of life above, around and within our watershed.”
