Chattanooga celebrates America 250

June 29, 2026

America’s 250th birthday is shaping up to be the nation’s biggest celebration yet. Here in Chattanooga, patriotic festivities will fill the holiday weekend, from riverfront fireworks and drone shows to family activities and morning foot races, there is an event for everyone to celebrate.

The best place to view fireworks is at Rock City during Red White, & Wonder, July 3-4, until midnight. Lover’s Leap provides a front-row, panoramic view of area fireworks—perched from a quieter vantage point. The distance makes for a quieter experience, perfect for those seeking a more sensory friendly experience. Details below!

Here are some other fun experiences in and around Chattanooga:

Experience the story of America’s founding in a unique way at Hamilton in the Round, a free outdoor community screening and sing-along at Renaissance Park on July 3. Part of Chattanooga’s America 250 Celebration Series, the event runs from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy an evening of music, storytelling and community under the stars. Lyrics will be provided for audience members who want to sing along with the hit musical, and food trucks will be onsite throughout the event.

The city of Ringgold will host Fireworks Fest on July 3 at the Benton Place Campus. This free Independence Day celebration features live music, a maker’s market, food vendors, inflatables, a petting zoo and family-friendly activities throughout the evening.

Live music at the amphitheater runs from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., followed by a fireworks display by Pyro Shows beginning at 10 p.m.

Earlier in the day, baseball fans can catch the Fireworks Fest Classic at Catoosa Recreation, where recreation league teams from ages 6U to 16U compete in a three-game tournament. The tournament concludes with free admission to the evening fireworks show, making it a full day of America’s pastime and patriotic celebration.

Ross’s Landing will serve as the backdrop for one of Chattanooga’s largest Independence Day celebrations as Riverfront Nights teams up with America 250 for a free July 4 event on the Tennessee River. The downtown festival brings together live music, historical programming, hands-on activities, and one of the largest drone and pyro shows ever staged in the city.

Throughout the day, guests can step into the past with the Independence Day Walk & Talk, a guided experience exploring early frontier history along the riverfront. Families will also find a full lineup of interactive Colonial Village activities, including 18th-century crafts, candle making, butter churning, quilting, knot tying, and storytelling designed to recreate life in 1776.

On the main stage, music and performances highlight a range of regional talent, including the a cappella group Voices of Lee, singer-songwriter Courtney Cowart with Bad Matador, and Johnny Folsom 4, a Johnny Cash tribute act.

As evening settles in, the celebration culminates on the riverfront with a 500-drone light show and a 1,000-foot pyro waterfall cascading from the Market Street Bridge—creating one of the most ambitious Independence Day displays in Chattanooga history. The entire event is free and open to the public at Ross’s Landing.

Families can celebrate America’s 250th birthday with a day of hands-on learning at the Creative Discovery Museum’s annual Red, White and Blue Day on July 4. From 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., the museum will offer patriotic crafts, science shows, and stories that teach children about the history and significance of Independence Day.

Guests can also sign a replica of the Declaration of Independence, take part in the museum’s 21 Geyser Salute, and enjoy extended museum hours.

Celebrate the Fourth of July with Chattanooga FC as the club takes on Inter Miami CF II at Erlanger Park on July 4. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m., with a fireworks show immediately following the match.

The special Independence Day game marks a collaboration between Chattanooga FC and the Chattanooga Lookouts to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary. Tickets are available through Chattanooga FC and the Chattanooga Lookouts.

Celebrate the nation’s 250th birthday at Collegedale’s annual Freedom Festival on July 4 at The Commons in Ooltewah. Beginning at 5 p.m., this free community celebration features live music, local vendors, food trucks and family-friendly activities throughout the evening.

Kids can enjoy a free Kids Zone complete with inflatables, bounce houses, giant slides, an obstacle course and interactive games. Free face painting, balloon twisting and a petting zoo will also be available. Craft vendors and boutiques will fill Founders Hall, while food trucks stationed near Veterans Park and at The Commons will offer a variety of food and refreshments for purchase.

The evening’s entertainment includes American Idol top 3 finalist Breanna Nix at 7:30 p.m. The celebration concludes after dark with a fireworks show. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and settle in for an evening of patriotic fun.

Head up Signal Mountain for the Sweet Charlotte Firecracker 1 Mile, a point-to-point race that precedes the annual Signal Mountain 4th of July parade. The race begins at 8:55 a.m. near Alexian Village and follows a tree-lined course to the entrance of Signal Mountain Golf and Country Club.

The event celebrates the life of Charlotte Gallant while raising awareness about fentanyl. Awards will be presented to the top overall finishers and winners in multiple age groups, and participants can purchase commemorative event T-shirts while supplies last. Packet pickup begins at 7:45 a.m. on St. Charles Street.

The City of Soddy-Daisy will host its annual Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, July 4 at the Soddy Lake Recreation Complex, running from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. The free, all-day event features food trucks, market vendors, a car show, kids’ activities and games, and family-friendly attractions spread across the park.

Throughout the day, visitors can take part in tournaments including a morning pickleball event at 9 a.m. and an afternoon wiffle ball tournament at 2 p.m., along with a patriotic art competition showcasing local creativity.

Live music will begin in the evening with performances leading up to the headlining sets from Habitual Strangers, Tyson Leamon, Neon Moon, and Porch Boy Rebels. The celebration concludes at dusk with a fireworks show over Soddy Lake.

Start Independence Day with a morning workout at Sweat Club’s 7th Annual 4th of July Ruck on July 4 at Greenway Farms in Hixson. The free, public event begins at 8 a.m. and features a 4-mile ruck run and walk open to all fitness levels.

Participants can choose between a running/jogging group, a walking group, or a weighted ruck option using a vest or backpack. The course is designed to help avoid peak heat while encouraging a community-focused fitness challenge to kick off the holiday.

Attendees are encouraged to wear red, white and blue and bring friends or family. Snacks and cold beverages will be provided afterward for participants to hang out and recover following the workout. The event will take place rain or shine.

The Red, White, & Wonder Bundle provides an all-inclusive Fourth of July experience: four tickets, your choice of BBQ meal from Café 7, and glow sticks for each person. This $150 bundle is only available on July 3-4.

What’s more, active and retired military receive free entry to Rock City on Independence Day along with 50% off for military family members up to six people. Discounted tickets must be purchased at the ticket window. Not available online.

There’s no shortage of ways to celebrate our nation’s milestone anniversary. Whatever you choose, we hope you get to make lasting memories with the people you love.
