Discoveries are blooming at Rock City. This spring, Gnome Quest explores the garden’s botanical beauty. This self-guided adventure will run March 16 through May 17 during Rock City’s Garden & Gnomes season, celebrating the beauty of spring as native blooms paint the trails in extraordinary colors.

What is a Gnome Quest?
Gnome Quest is a trail activity that keeps your eyes peeled for the garden’s wonders. Fun for all ages, this interactive adventure puts your trail knowledge to the test with a Quest Card from our resident botanist gnome, Leif the Soilsmith. Upon completion, guests can redeem a special Rock City prize!
Each season brings a brand-new Gnome Quest. This Spring, Leif explores the wonder of Rock City’s pollinators and plant diversity. He adores pollinators like bees, butterflies, and other tiny helpers that move pollen from flower to flower, helping plants grow seeds and fruit and keep the garden thriving.
As you can tell, gardening is near and dear to his heart—he tends to every blossom with care. Give him a wave if you spot him in the Grand Corridor, where he watches over the trail.
How to participate
Your Gnome Quest begins with a Quest Card and a scribe provided by a Rock City partner in the Ticket Plaza or midway through the trail at Cliff Terrace. While exploring the Enchanted Trails, answer questions and draw pictures on the Quest Card to connect with the Gardens.
At the end of your Gnome Quest, visit one of the following locations to collect your prize:
- Gardens Gateway
- Woodland Wonders
- Cliff Terrace
- Fudge Kitchen
- Starbucks
- Admissions/Guest Service Partners wearing buttons
Please note that the prizes are the same at each location. If you need assistance along your journey, look for Rock City partners with a Gnome Quest button on their uniforms. They’ll be happy to help with any questions you may have.
Rock City’s springtime Gnome Quest invites curious explorers to discover a bit of garden magic. Be sure to ask a Rock City partner at the entrance for a Quest Card so you too can explore the gardens as the spring colors begin to pop.
Follow Leif’s lead and you might develop a green thumb yourself!
