Mountaintop Summers begins May 24!

Rock City’s newest seasonal event celebrates summertime beauty, with fresh blooms, outdoor activities and more. Through Sept. 2, come see why Rock City is the coolest place to be in the summer heat.

Here’s what to expect:

Activities

  • Be on the lookout for gnomes!
    • These adventurous little guys roam the Enchanted Trail but can be hard to spot. Embark on a Gnome Quest and document your sightings with water painting at Prospector’s Point, and post your artwork to the creative sharing board at Hearth.
  • Get up close to magnificent birds
    • The Rock City Raptors show is back! See hawks, bald eagles, owls and other incredible birds in this live program hosted by Wings to Soar, a nonprofit organization that rescues and rehabilitates injured wild birds.
    • Shows are Thursdays through Sundays in Critter Classroom, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Test your nature knowledge
    • The Reflection Riding Arboretum & Nature Center hosts an all-new animal educational show Mondays through Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Legacy Lane next to Critter Classroom.
    • Learn about local fauna through interactive presentations, including a raptor wingspan chart and an animal facts and misconceptions display.

Art

  • Standing Stones Garden
    • Journey through the all-new Standing Stones Garden, on your way to Fairyland Caverns.
    • This windy path features curiously-shaped sculptures among a sloped garden of native plantings.
  • Red String is here to stay
    • Our newest marque art installation honors Rock City’s co-founder Frieda Carter, who with string in hand, marked the Enchanted Trail over 92 years ago.
  • Meet our innovation team!
    • The hardworking team who gives Rock City its magical charm will be crafting new projects this summer.
    • Meet and greet with the team this June as they paint a mural at the Rock Shop. Swing by the original roundhouse gate at the beginning of Legacy Lane this July as it will be turned into a mini Rock City history museum.

Food

  • Barbeque, and beer is on tap
    • Enjoy a BBQ burger at Big Rock Grill with a glass of blackberry cider, Bold Rock Hard Cider or Hutton & Smith Pale Ale.
    • A Cuban BBQ sandwich is on the menu at Hearth along with Caesar and hummus veggie wraps, burnt ends sandwiches and a wide selection of beverages.
    • Stop by Café 7 for buffalo and BBQ wings and cream cheese-filled churros with chocolate sauce. Have your choice of beverage, including a Summer Shandy – a Chattahooligan Kölsch and lemonade mix.
  • Complimentary popcorn at Hearth
    • That’s right, it’s free!
