Gnome activity is on the rise at Rock City, as reports of enchanted footprints and other magical evidence is on the rise around the gardens.
Typically shy and elusive, we’re surprised to hear that so many gnomes are scurrying atop boulders and in between crevices. In fact, there hasn’t been this much gnome activity since Rock City opened over 92 years ago!
We’re not sure of the reason for the spike in activity, moreover what the gnomes are up to, which is why we need your help!
What we can confirm is that the appearance of gnome statues are indeed real gnomes – they typically “freeze” to evade the focus of wandering eyes. This observation was first made by our cofounder, Frieda Utermoehlen Carter, who took a keen interest in the gnomes that roamed her gardens. Her notes and sketches are on display at the Gardens Gateway gift shop.
Take notes of your own encounters on a Gnome Quest today at Rock City. Perhaps your discoveries will build upon Frieda’s work and reveal some of Rock City’s greatest secrets!
