Event Activities

  Activities Available Daily During the Event Include:
  • Make-and-Take Recycling Projects: located near Lovers Leap. Stop by between 11-4pm
    • Learn all about how to reduce, reuse, and recycle during these educational, interactive activites.
    • Create your own "pot" from recycled newspapers, plant a seed, and take home your Rock City watch-it-grow momento
    • Learn how to make colorful "beads" from recycled newspaper flyers and wear home your artistic creation!
  • Rock City Raptors - Birds of Prey Shows: located in the Critter Classroom. Show Times at 11am, 1pm, &3pm
    • Come and see hawks soaring in the sky above Rock City. Get a glimpse at a nocturnal hunter, the owl. Meet a vivacious vulture! Enjoy this rare opportunity to witness these powerful and majestic birds up close.
  • Environmentally Educational Demonstrations: on the EarthDayz stage at Lovers Leap. Specific times will be posted at the ticket desk and activity area.
    • Watch a rain barrel building demonstration and learn how to make your own rain barrel at home so you can start collecting rain water for your potted plants or your garden.
  • RockQuest Adventure*: Self-Guided adventur, purchase from the ticket desk upon arrival! 
    • Your RockQuest guidebook will help you look for clues to many of the geological wonders at Rock City. Your adventure includes 2-Mining/Discovery Rock Collections ~ choose from a variety of specimens at Prospector's Point and Woodland Wonders ~ and one free climb on the Rock Climbing Wall at Lovers Leap.

HATCH - History, Arts, Technology, Culture, Happenings 2012

HATCH Festival Chattanooga - April 2012

The HATCH Arts Festival is a brand new 10-day showcase of all facets of creative culture to attract a local, regional, and national audience. This city-wide collaborative arts and culture showcase will encompass visual art, performance art, technological art, musical art, history and many others. The event will take place from April 13-22 across Chattanooga, and is the first of its kind for this region.

 

Rock City is proud to be involved with HATCH as a sponsporship and event partner! Two great events will be held at Rock City during the HATCH Festival

  • Rock City's EarthDayz Festival (Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays in April) - more information on all our events of EarthDayz can be found above
  • The Art O Mat creator, Clark Whittinton, will be at Rock City the week of HATCH and will be offering an artist talk to the public as well as a workshop for the local artist community at Rock City. Sunday, April 15th at 1:00pm at Cliff Terrace. www.artomat.org
  • Rock City will be hosting a group of plein air painters ("open air" artists) during the festival. April 13 & 14. Times TBD
